When she was 7 yrs. old, it became her responsibility to care for her father who was an invalid after having tuberculosis.  Her Mother worked 14 hour days to support the family and her older siblings were gone.  In her words, “I would come home from school and clean the house.  Then I would do my homework.  But I accepted this, and what’s more, I enjoyed it.  Even though some of my duties were supposed to be too difficult for a child, nobody ever told me that.  As a result, I just did them.”  Keep in mind she was 7 yrs. old!!!!  There is more on this, but I think you get the idea.  One month before they were scheduled to open the business, her husband, who was in charge of the company budget, suffered a fatal heart attack.  After her attorney and accountant told her to get out while she could, with her strength and family support, she decided to go ahead with it anyway.  She opened the business on schedule, the rest is history.  I have researched her business plan, thinking I would find something wrong with it.  I am still searching.  She was an amazing woman who has done amazing things for so many women. Finally, I guess she represents a person who, despite tremendous hurdles, never gave up.  Thanks to her women of all shapes, sizes, ethnicities, education levels, and cultures can be, are, and have been very successful in business and life.  She has changed the lives of many….Mary Kay Ash was just an amazing lady!!!
