Here is what I heard growing up in my house. With 5 sisters who I looked up to, you can imagine the opinions were strong. Regarding sex, I heard, “Always respect yourself and expect to be treated with respect. Demand to be treated with respect. Don’t ever do anything you are not ready for or do not feel comfortable with or will regret. You will know when the time is right to do something like that.”My Mom would say “I hope you are in a respectful relationship and that you protect yourself in every way. When/if you want to talk about things, the door is open and I hope you feel you can approach me with advice or questions anytime.”
