I loved one of my teachers in high school. She made a difference in my life. She looked up when I would approach her desk and when I spoke she looked at me and listened to me. She never made me feel as if my questions were dumb. She never made me feel as if I was dumb even though I thought that about myself. I want to be a teacher because of Ms. T. What a career in teaching represents to me is more than an opportunity to work with kids. It will give me an opportunity to change a life or two like Ms. T changed mine. To help kids who struggle with learning find their voice, find strategies to be successful and ultimately feel good about themselves. Especially those kids who don’t have anyone who looks up at them when they speak or who looks at them at all at home. I know I will experience more challenges in college but I believe that because of my past experiences, I am better equipped to handle the challenges. I look forward to the future and will be someone who will never take my successes for granted. I will always remember Ms. T, how she treated me and how she changed me.
